Police are confirming there was an incident involving a firearm in Crofton on June 4, but declined to provide further details.

There had been unsubstantiated reports of a man with a rifle in public in Crofton on Sunday afternoon

Const. Amron Russell, a spokeswoman with the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment, said in release on June 6 that police responded to an incident in Crofton on Sunday “where a firearm was mentioned.”

“However, I am unable to provide further details about an active investigation,” she said.

“The public is not at risk relating to this matter.”
