Police are looking for two suspects after an apparently unprovoked attack in Chemainus on Tuesday, July 12.

The 45-year-old male victim was walking alone on Victoria Road around 5:30 p.m. when two men got out of their vehicle and began to verbally attack him. The situation turned physical shortly thereafter, and the victim sustained non-life-threatening facial and chest injuries from repeated blows.

The driver of the vehicle is described as white with a medium complexion, between 18 and 22 years old, around 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, with blond or dirty blond hair and a matching full bushy beard. He was wearing a black hat, possibly jeans, and a faded blue shirt.

The other suspect is described as white with a medium complexion, between 16 and 20 years old, around five-foot-five and 150 pounds, with a shaved head and face, possibly wearing a blue coat and carrying a small black bat.

The men were driving a black truck, possibly a Chevy Blazer from the late 1990s or early 2000s. The truck was dusty and had a loud muffler.

Anyone with information about the crime, suspects or vehicle should contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
