Police seeking info about assault near Duncan cemetery

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are looking for information about an assault near the Mountain View Cemetery outside Duncan on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The incident at the cemetery, located at the intersection of Somenos and Drinkwater roads, occurred between 5 and 5:30 a.m.

Two men were walking toward Duncan when they were attacked and injured by two other men, who they told police they did not know.

The suspects are described as two First Nations men, stockier and of average height, between 20 and 35 years of age, with dark or black shaggy to shoulder-length hair. Their faces were covered with bandannas. One of the men was dressed all in black, and the other was wearing a green or khaki hoodie and dark pants and a tuque.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area around that time who may have dash cam video or who may have seen either the suspects or victims to contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Cowichan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 and quote file No. 2021-16652.
