North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are looking for witnesses to a robbery that took place on Oct. 30 near Coronation Avenue and St. Julien Street in Duncan.

At around 4 p.m., the victim said that she was at the south side of the parking lot at Coronation Centre when a man hit her on the head and stole her wallet.

Her injuries were treated and her identity will not be released to protect her privacy.

Police have reviewed surveillance cameras from multiple buildings and businesses in the area, but the assault was not captured on any known cameras.

Police also attempted to locate witnesses but no one working in the area at the time saw anything.

Frontline officers hope that a passerby or pedestrian may be able to help in identifying the suspect.

“Please contact the police if you witnessed this event,” said Const. Kyle Cyrull, the lead investigator on this file.

“We hope the community will be able to help us further our investigation.”

The male suspect was described as Caucasian and around 5 foot 7, with short dark hair.

He was wearing light blue jeans and black work boots.

The victim also told police that there was a woman in the area who likely witnessed the incident.

Police hope to identify and follow up with this woman, who was panhandling and was described as a short, blonde, and very skinny.
