Ryan Hendrick Young, 36, has been identified as the man found dead in the Gala Vista Apartments on Government Street in Duncan Saturday morning.
Young was found dead in the apartment building’s hallway at approximately 6:30 a.m.
The circumstances of his death are believed to be suspicious, and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit with support from the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP’s General Investigations Unit and the Forensics Identification Section have been actively investigating the death since the body’s discovery.
Young is described as Caucasian, standing six feet tall, and weighing 245 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
The morning of his death, Young was found to be wearing a black hoody and grey pants.
“Our priority now is to try to piece together the day and hours leading up to Mr. Young’s death,” said Sgt. John Ferguson, of the Vancouver Island Major Crime Unit.
“We are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen, spoken to, or have information about Mr. Young’s whereabouts from the morning of June 9, up to and including the morning of June 10, at 6:30 am, you are asked to the VIIMCU tipline at 250-380-6211. “
