RCMP search for four people following serious Duncan assault

Police are investigating a serious assault that took place in Duncan's Centennial Park on Saturday night.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are searching for four people after an assault.

Police are investigating a serious assault that took place in Duncan's Centennial Park on Saturday night.

A 52-year-old man was playing tennis at the park around 7 p.m. when a verbal altercation began between him and a group of two men and two women. The altercation turned physical and the man was left with severe injuries to his face, head and torso. The facial injuries required surgery.

“The victim is cooperating with the police investigation,” said North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Krista Hobday.

The four suspects were all in their late teens or early 20s, wearing casual clothing.

The men were both described as white and about six feet tall, one with “mousy brown hair” and the other with blond hair. Both women were white; one had brown hair and was short in stature.
