Saturday is not only Halloween, but the evening we turn the clocks back before going to bed.

Daylight Saving Time officially ends at 2 a.m. Sunday when we swing back to Pacific Standard Time.

There has been considerable discussion in the last couple of years, especially, about not changing the clocks anymore during the year, either by sticking with Daylight Saving Time (the most popular option) or Standard Time.

No official decision has been made in this province so we’re still falling back this weekend.

It’s been thought any change might be tied to whatever the other Pacific states — Washington, Oregon and California — do in order to maintain conformity on the coast. But none of those states have made any commitments to maintaining the same time zone throughout the year.

The Yukon territory recently went on its own and opted not to continue switching the clocks in the fall and spring. Saskatchewan stays on Central Standard Time all year.

Most U.S. states still change the clocks, but some don’t.

B.C. Premier-elect John Horgan has addressed the matter several times during his tenure and it’s expected to come up again in 2021, depending on the urgency with COVID and whether it’s really that important right now in the big picture.
