Wind downs branch onto power lines, knocks out electricity to 1,800

More than 1,800 people in North Cowichan were without power Sunday evening for about an hour.

Winds brought down a branch down on the power lines, said Ted Olynyk of BC Hydro, knocking out electricity to residents from Crofton to the Mount Prevost area.

"It was a bit windy there," said Olynyk. The outage occurred just after 7:30 p.m. and lasted until about 8:45.
