What is the purpose of the Temporary Use Permit?

The City has received an application to issue a new TUP to authorize the continued use of the subject property for temporary accommodation of up to 34 unsheltered persons in up to 34 modular sleeping units (cabins). The original TUP, including one renewal, was valid for a period of 16 months from January 15, 2022, to May 30, 2023. The proposed new TUP, if issued, would be valid for an 18‑month term from May 30, 2023, to November 30, 2024.

How do I get more information?

The proposed TUP will be available for public inspection from Monday, May 1, 2023, to Monday, May 15, 2023, at City Hall, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), and on the City’s website, www.duncan.ca. How do I express my views on this Temporary Use Permit?

Attend the Council meeting at 6:00 pm on Monday, May 15, 2023 at City Hall, 200 Craig Street, Duncan, BC for the opportunity to speak or provide written comments mailed or delivered to City Hall and addressed to Director of Corporate Services, City of Duncan, 200 Craig Street, Duncan BC V9L 1W3 or emailed to paige@duncan.ca before 12:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023. All correspondence received after 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, and before 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023, will be submitted for public record during the meeting.
