Albert Anthony (Tony) Moore, age 94 of Duncan, BC, passed away on December 6th, 2018, just two days before his 95th birthday. He passed away quietly in his sleep surrounded by his loving family.

Born in London, England in 1923, Tony grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland where he lived until he joined the British Royal Artillery at the age of 18. He served for several years and in several locations, including Pakistan and India, before returning to Scotland where he met his future wife, Ella Waldie, in 1949. The couple married in Galashiels in 1952 and welcomed their daughter Lesley in 1954 and son Alan in 1960. Emigrating to Canada in 1957, the growing family settled in Toronto until being transferred to Edmonton in 1962. Tony worked for the Dana Corporation for many years before retiring in 1983 and moving to Duncan, where he and Ella lived together for another 34 years.

Tony was an avid reader who was passionate about libraries and books. He was always interested in world affairs, travel, geography, history, jazz and anything with wheels, especially antique cars. Having read thousands of books over the years, he would often share his vast knowledge on a wide range of subjects with anyone who wanted to chat. As an accomplished jazz pianist, he made friends wherever he went.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ella, his son, Alan his daughter Lesley, son-in-law, Paul, granddaughter Lindsay and her husband Jake, and two great grandchildren, Mya (9) and Karter (5).EThe family would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the excellent, compassionate care extended to Tony and family by the staff of Unit 3 West at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan and by Dr. Patricia Seymour.

At Tony's request there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to your local animal shelter or children's charity would be gratefully appreciated.
