Dec 22, 1926 - Apr 28, 2018
Albert Petersen, beloved husband of Eleonore, passed away at the Cerwydden Care Centre on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the age of 91 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his spouse Eleonore as well as by children: Ingrid Clark, Albert (Jennifer) Petersen, Gary (Brenda) Petersen, Barbara (John) Wagenaar, Paul Petersen; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will also be dearly missed by sisters: Helge (Werner) Kowalkowski, Ingeborg Fuchs, Christine Schlicher, Sofie (Karl) Harm as well as by six nieces, and eleven nephews.

Albert was predeceased by his father, Johannes Petersen; mother Christine (nee Weber); brother Hans-Adolf Petersen; and sisters Adelheid Peess and Elfriede Peper.

Albert grew up in Heide Germany on a family orchard and at age 21, married Edith (nee Schroeder). He came to Ontario to work as a farmhand and then brought his family over from Germany when he found work at the Niagara Falls Generator Tunnels. Upon graduation from Electronics School, he worked in an electronic repair shop and then opened up Petersen TV in Kitchener, ON which he ran for about 20 years.

In 1965, tragedy struck the family of five when Edith was killed in an automobile accident. Albert remarried in 1969 and the Petersen's became a blended family of seven. In Ontario, Albert was active with his business and enjoyed family outings and camping at Algonquin Provincial Park. Eleonore and Albert shared a dream of moving to the West Coast and returning to Albert's farming roots. In 1976 that dream became a reality when they bought a hobby farm in Cobble Hill which has since been developed into a subdivision. Albert could be found at the Cobble Hill Farmers Hall every Sunday for over 20 years selling his eggs and honey.

Along with the hobby farm activities and his TV shop in Duncan, Albert was active in the local community. He was an alternate Director and planned the annual Oktoberfest. Albert will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Sands Funeral Chapel - Duncan, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC. Condolences may be offered online.
