1930-2020 ~ It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Descoteau. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Leroy (Fern), Dianne (Greg) Jacobson, Paul (Tammy), Tammy (Grant) Easterbrook, Darrell (Kristina); grandchildren: Amber, Ben, Jesse, Lindsay, Daniel, Paula, Evan, Jenelle, Ryan, Jamie; and 12 great-grandchildren: She was predeceased by her first husband Paul, partner Jim and grandsons Dustin and Derek.
Alice was a loving person whose greatest joy in life was her family. As a child in Saskatchewan she found a lifelong love of horses. Her home was always decorated with horse figurines and she often told stories of riding her neighbours stallion along the fence as a young girl.
Alice lived in Calgary when she met her husband Paul and married in 1948. In 1964 with their five children they moved to Chemainus. Alice was a great cook; a skill she gained working in Paul's Cafe and The Haida-way restaurant. Her kids and grandkids will always rave about her fried chicken, and baked beans! She was a talented seamstress and made many outfits for her kids throughout the years. Her love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren is unmatched in our hearts and she will be missed dearly by all who she leaves behind.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and staff of the Chemainus Health Care Centre for the years of care for mom, and the homecare aids that saw her daily. Memorial Donations in Alice's name may be made directly to the ALS Society of BC (3511 Blanshard St, Victoria BC V8Z 7H5). A Private Family Graveside service was held on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens and Crematorium. Condolences may be offered online at www.sandsduncan.ca
