Anne Drought of Mill Bay, beloved wife of Kelvin Drought, passed away at the Cowichan District Hospital on December 19, 2017 at the age of 56 years.
Andrea was born in Victoria and grew up in Oak Bay going to Willows Elementary School then later attended the Oak Bay High School. After High School she began her bachelor in Anthropology at the University of Victoria and also worked at Woodward's in the Toy/Pet department.
Andrea married Kelvin in May of 1982 and together they bought their first home in Victoria in 1984. It is at this time Andrea started working on the idea of opening her own pet store and after completing her studies she opened her first pet store on Hillside in October 1987. One year later she moved to a larger store on Haultain and the following year relocated to their hobby farm in Saanich at Prospect Lake.
In 1993, after the birth of their first child Nick, Andrea wanted to spend her time as a full time mom. In 1995 the family moved to Mill Bay where Brenna and Zack were born. Andrea loved many sports and always stepped up to be a team manager or help in any way she could. She was always a great organizer and was well respected and liked by all.
Her love and devotion to family and friends will be greatly missed. Andrea will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her husband Kelvin; children: Nick, Brenna and Zack.
She will also be dearly missed by her sister Joan Alexander, brother Glen Crawford as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.
She is predeceased by her parents Helen and Andrew Crawford. Kelvin and the family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Atwell, Dr. Masuda, as well as the staff of CDH and RJH for the excellent care everyone provided.
Memorial donations in Andrea's memory may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 in the Arbor Lounge of Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan BC.
