It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Anna Sofie Hansen.

Anna was predeceased by her loving husband Morten in 1959, as well as her parents and sister Jenny in Denmark.

She is survived by her loving friend and partner Peter Hansen.  She also leaves behind two daughters; Karin Billings of Chula Vista, California and Lissi Hemstalk of Sechelt, B.C., five grandchildren; Rocky (Sherry), Vicki (Johnny),   Danny (Darla), Jim (Ruth), and Debbie (Manuel), nine great-grandchildren; Mindy, Kristy, Candice, Therin and Jenna-May, Zaena, Zachariah, Dean and Vivian, five great-great-grandchildren; Carter, Ryder, Benjamin, Jed and Parker. Also her sister Elly and several nieces and nephews in Denmark.

Mom had a very full life, finishing school at 14 she went into service on a nearby farm and also worked in the kitchen of a boys boarding school.  She was married at 19, and worked with Dad in a convenience store in Denmark. Immigrated to Canada in 1949 and eventually ended up on Heather Bank Farm in Cobble Hill.

After Dad died in 1959 she worked as a Practical Nurse  at the Salvation Army Nursing Home and then on to the extended care hospital on Cairnsmore St. Duncan. She was the best cook ever, and enjoyed feeding her family and numerous friends. She loved to garden and play crib with Peter.

We would like to thank the staff at Cerwydden for taking such good care of Mom while she was there. She will be greatly missed by many. There will be no service by request.

Condolences can be left at hwwallacecbc.com
