December 13, 1930 - January 15, 2023
In loving memory ~
We are sad to announce that Arlene Alvera Mclean (nee Newton) passed away on January 15, 2023.
Arlene was born on December 13, 1930, to Stanley and Josie Newton and spent her early childhood on her parent's farm near Northgate, SK and moved on to Estevan to complete her schooling. She married Norman Bruce McLean in 1951 and started her married life in Kamloops and then on to Winnipeg where they raised their family. They spent a number of years on a farm outside of Anola, MB before moving to Duncan.
Arlene and Bruce enjoyed many years of retirement in Duncan taking numerous car trips exploring western Canada. Bruce died in 2012.
Arlene always put others first before herself and it was her kind nature towards others that made her a special person. Arlene had great faith in God and derived comfort and strength through prayer.
Arlene is survived by her children Shelly, Larry (Donna), Greg and Doug, her grandchildren Jeff and Kristen (Carl) and her great-grandchildren Jaedyn, Tyce, Alexis and Riley. She is also survived by her sister Lorraine (Dorne) Cornish and cousin Marion (Raymond) Newman.
Arlene spent her last years as a resident of Sunridge Place Long Term Care in Duncan. The family wishes to thank the caregivers of the centre for their gentle care of our mother.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Colorectal Cancer Canada.
