Barbara Cherry passed away at the Cowichan District Hospital on January 28, 2018 at the age of 91 years.
She was the loving mother of children: James (Elissa), Linda (Jim), David (Wilhelmina) and Brian (Cindy). She will also be dearly missed by her eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild as well as by her sister, Jean Hanke. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Gordon James Cherry (1998); son, Thomas Jessie Cherry (2017); and sister, Betty Plumbly (2008).
Mom grew up in Steveston, BC. She moved to Vancouver Island in 1952 and raised her family in Sidney, moved to Chemainus in 1965 and then Duncan twenty years later.
Mom enjoyed spending time with her family, travelling, loved to play cards and was an avid Blue Jay fan. She will be sadly missed by all. A Private Service will be held.
We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and the days before that too. We think of you in silence. We often speak your name. Now all we have are memories, and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake from which we will never part. You may not be beside us but you are with us in our hearts.
