Brian John Keple, of Duncan, British Columbia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 13, 2022, at the age of 83. Born on February 9, 1939 to Elsie Freda Keple and John Keple, he grew up in Regina, SK and attended Connaught Elementary, Luther College High School, and Western University in London, ON.
Brian married Kathleen (nee Jackson) on May 6, 1967. He was the President of Regina Cartage & Storage Co. Ltd. until he semi-retired in 1989. He and Kathleen moved to Cobble Hill, BC, where he operated a mobile home park for 18 years before fully retiring. He and Kathleen spent many happy summers at their cottage at Katepwa, SK and many sunny winters in Palm Springs, CA.
Brian was active in many service clubs and politics, including Jaycees, Lions, McKenzie Art Gallery, Regina Symphony Orchestra, and the Regina Exhibition Association. He is an honourary life member of the Regina Buffalo Days Committee. He also served on the Boards of Ports Canada and Saskatchewan Labour Relations. He served in the Canadian Forces Militia from 1961-1973. A dedicated Rotarian since 1978, Brian was a founding member of the South Cowichan (Mill Bay) Rotary Club. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member of the Mill Bay Volunteer Fire Department from 1991-1998. A life-long musician and singer, he was a member of the Elizabethan Singers in Regina, and after moving to BC he became a member of the Concenti Singers. Brian lived life to the fullest and was known for his generosity and sense of humour.
Brian is survived by his wife Kathleen; their daughters: Alison (Jason Sandquist) and Kathy (Doug Kennedy). He is survived by his brother Charles (Gayle, and children: Lee and Suzanne). The family is grateful to the Cowichan Hospice for their excellent care in his final weeks. Memorial donations may be made to Rotary International or the ALS Society of BC.
