Bruce Klaassen, our Peewee, passed away suddenly at home on April 20, 2017. Left behind to mourn are; his wife Nikki, daughters Madison and Evlyn, brother Heith and wife Lisa, parents Peggy and Bob Bran, Gerry and Diane Klaassen, and too many friends and teammates to name. We will all miss his enthusiasm, big smile and love for life.

Bruce was born in Greenfield Park, Quebec. He grew up in a military family first on Montreal’s south shore then on to New Brunswick and Esquimalt and a year in Germany. Bruce was a devoted husband and loving father and would do anything for his little girls. He had a big heart and was always there for his family and friends. He was a great mechanic, first at Kal Tire then at Island Ford. He was proud to call the Cowichan Valley his home.

Peewee was a leader on the hockey ice, the lacrosse floor, the football field, the golf course and even more so in the dressing room. He always said that “teammates are forever” and yes, Peewee they are. He rarely missed a game and enjoyed the comradery and excitement of the game. Many nights were spent with friends having a cold beer, listening to 80’s music and telling old stories.

A celebration of Bruce’s life is to be held today, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Mellor Hall at the Cowichan Exhibition grounds. Donations will be graciously accepted in support of Madison and Evlyn’s future education. The celebration begins at 1pm and goes for as long as it takes.

We miss you!

You are much loved and will not be forgotten.
