June 28, 1950 - April 25, 2025

In loving memory ~

After an extended battle with cancer, David Bruce Stott, aged 74, was welcomed home by Jesus, his Lord and Saviour, on Friday, April 25, 2025. Bruce is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Joy; children, Candace (Warren), Shannon (Jon), Kelly (Doug), and Keray (Amy); grandchildren, Daniella, Nathan, Rebecca, and Cameron; his brother Brian, sister Barb (Rick) and niece Brooke (Jeremy).

Born on June 28, 1950, Bruce lived his entire life in Duncan, where he met Joy in 1969 and married her in 1971. They started their family in 1973, and by early 1978 they were outnumbered 2:1. He deeply loved Joy, their children, and grandchildren. He encouraged and supported them in all their interests and activities, expanded their perspective by taking them on many trips, and as they moved out on their own, enjoyed visiting them wherever they landed, whether across Canada, the US, or in countries around the world.

Bruce gave his all to everything he did. From the age of 18 until his passing, Bruce worked at/owned the Letterbox and later sold to and worked for Monk Office selling stationery, office supplies, tech, and furniture. He loved assisting his customers and went to great lengths to meet their needs, both materially and by providing a listening ear and praying with them for their burdens.

Bruce also did all he could to invest in his community. Family and friends remember him for his many acts of service and his generosity. He served by coaching and supporting various junior sports teams, hosting and billeting many exchange students and athletes, being a member of local Rotary clubs, overseeing Love Cowichan, and offering to pray with those in need. For almost 30 years, Bruce and Joy served the body of Christ at City Gate Church. He loved traveling the world with family and friends and going on mission trips.

Bruce never let the cancer steal his enthusiasm for life or his trust in the goodness of God. Although family and friends grieve his loss, we are grateful we will see him again in eternity.

Special thanks to Dr. H. Reimer, Dr. D. Phillips, Dr. K. Adzich, Cassandra and the palliative care team, and the Duncan and Victoria cancer clinics.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and support to our family. We have enjoyed hearing your stories of how Bruce touched your lives, and we look forward to hearing many more in the coming months.

Bruce's Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Community Baptist Church on Saturday, May 24 at 2 pm.
