It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Bill Shaw, age 84, of Mill Bay, BC. He passed away at the Cowichan District Hospital with his son, daughter, and son-in-law by his side.
Dad was predeceased by his parents A.W. (Buster) Shaw, M.J. (Marge) Shaw, his biological parents E.M. (Bobbie) McCambridge (nee Scarfe), and W.L. (Bill) Hall, brother-in-law Pete Matyaschuk, and son Brian. He leaves behind his daughter Nancy (Tom Head), son Dave (Dianne, Michaella, Emily and Chelsea), sister Janet Matyaschuk, ex-wife Z.M. (Pat) Shaw, and partner Kathleen Young.
Dad was a hard-working, kind, generous and loving father. His smile and bright blue eyes could light up the room. He loved visiting with family and friends, gardening, watching car racing and hockey, and especially loved his fishing. He was very happy to have learned of his mom Bobbie and sister Janet, and he was grateful for the time they were able to share.
Special thanks to Dr. Kim Grymaloski for all his time and supportive phone calls. As well as Dr. Pullan and Dr. Wenzel-Smith for the care and compassion they showed dad. Nurse Jacqueline on 3 North for the extra special care over the long evenings when dad was alone his last couple of nights. Also to nurse Andrew who helped dad with gallows humour to laugh and smile to the end.
At dad's request there will be no memorial. Please think of him when you are at the marina in Mill Bay.
