Daisy Goley

Daisy Goley

Apr 17, 1915 – Dec 25, 2017
Needing a change after 102 years of life on earth, Daisy departed, on December 25, 2017, to a new adventure in the Great Beyond.

Born on April 17, 1915, she experienced so many changes from horse and buggy, Model T’s to the advent of driverless cars, jet planes, telephones, television and so many more wonders. She helped build the family home at Shawnigan Lake while caring for two little children.

Dad was a faller, a seasonal job, therefore Mom worked in the local resort to make sure we were well-fed, had all the medical and dental care needed and were properly dressed. When a baby sister was born 10 years after Mom’s youngest daughter’s birth, she took a few years off, then resumed work, taking this preschooler with her. She was a fabulous cook and became head cook at both private schools and hotels in the area. Her roast beef dinners and apple pies were legendary. She was always ready to help us no matter what time of night or day it was. She whipped up delicious meals, kept grandkids in line and cared for the sick.

We are so grateful to her. Mom was a good historian. She could be a lot of fun. Mom was very honest, reliable, ethical and taught us to be no less. However, we knew not to rile her as her tongue lashing was razor sharp. Recently, Mom’s body was letting her down terribly; she proclaimed that she had been “here too long” and wanted “to go.” She finally got her wish and we wish her the best in her new adventure.

Mom waves goodbye to daughters: Shirley (Gary) Townsend, Beverly (Tom) Lowe, Marlene (David) Boyer-Goley; grandchildren: Brian (Melissa) Townsend, Sandra (Al) Meers, Sonia (Paul) Latter, Derrick Lowe (Dec’d), widow Taryn Lowe, Joel (Ashleigh) Martinflett, and Andrea (Grant) Martin.

She is survived by many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Daisy was predeceased by husband, Andy Goley as well as by sisters: Gladys and Grace.

Many thanks to the caregivers at The Meadows for their wonderful understanding, patience and care of Mom. Also, thanks to Dr. Ibrahim for the kind care he gave to Mom.

At Daisy’s request, a private Gathering will take place. Donations are gratefully declined and Daisy would like you to think of your family and buy them something special.
