July 23, 1936 - July 26, 2024

In loving memory ~

David passed away peacefully in his sleep at Cairnsmore Place on July 26, 2024, three days after celebrating his 88th birthday.

He was the beloved husband of June and loving father of Philip (Selena) and Wendy. Grandad will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Scott (Andrew), Nicholas (Kennedy), Derek, Chloe, Laurel (Jayden), and Grace and his great-grandson Emerett. He will also be lovingly remembered by his dear friends Mike and Heather. He is predeceased by his brother Brian (Ruth).

David was born in Sheffield, England to Walter and Olive. As a young man, David started a career in Carpentry, and served as a National Service Soldier before meeting and marrying his love June in 1959. David and June, and their young family, emigrated to Canada in 1969 with the hopes of a more comfortable life, which they far exceeded. David went to work at the Honeymoon Bay Sawmill with his cousins Frank and Alec Walker, purchased property and built their family home on his days off. He enjoyed volunteering as a Kinsmen Club member, most memorably by helping provide local ambulance services at the time. David finished his career in the construction industry and retired to drive his 1968 Mustang Fastback, garden, read, bird watch, chase steam engines and enjoy his grandchildren.

No service is planned as per his wishes.

David's family would like to thank Dr. Froese, Dr. Heard, and the staff at Cowichan District Hospital and Cairnsmore Place for the fantastic care given to him before and during his short stay in care.
