Diana Laing Williamson (Douglas)

January 1, 2016

Mar 04, 1940 – Oct 03, 2016.

Diana passed away peacefully at the age of 76. She will be greatly missed by her husband Jim, daughter Sheelagh (Ken), son Douglas (Kathleen), and grandchildren Jacob and Jordyn. Diana grew up in Duncan and took a Lab Technician course in Victoria. She met Jim on a blind date and they married on Aug 22, 1964. In 1972, they moved to the new mill town of Mackenzie, where they raised their family and met many lifelong friends. She often mentioned great memories from those days where she was involved with the Hospital Auxiliary and the church. In 1989, they returned to the Cowichan Valley where they retired to a life of traveling, boating, and gardening. Diana spent much of her time volunteering with the Anglican Church Women’s Group. In recent years, she spent time with the Minds in Motion family, learning, laughing, and traveling as she navigated the journey of Alzheimer’s with Jim. She enjoyed hosting dinners which will be missed by family and friends alike. Always a lady - her tea, sweets, and smiles will be missed by all those who knew her. A celebration of life will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 3295 Cobble Hill Rd on October 14, 2016 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer’s Society and BC Cancer Agency.
