Donald William Gladman born in East London England passed away quietly on May 31, 2015 after living a long healthy life. A supervisor at the Crofton Mill until retiring in 1988, he was a long-time member of the Maple Bay Yacht Club where he spent many hours racing sailboats in Maple Bay, and sharing stories with family and friends. Don was an accomplished pilot and had his own plane for numerous years. One of his favourite pastimes in his later years was taking his van to Long Beach to camp.

Before meeting his wife Eva in England, Don spent time in the British 8th Army in North Africa, Sicily and Italy in the Signal Corps. Returning home from the war he became a British Bobby and worked as a stage hand where he first set sight on Eva. His days off were spent racing motorcycles and touring around England getting into mischief with his best friend and brother Derek.

Don and Eva moved to Canada with their two oldest children Dorothy and Dale in 1953, expanding their family with Dennis and Duncan.

Don leaves behind his wife Eva, daughter Dorothy, sons Dale (Rosemary), Dennis and Duncan (Tish), grand-children Sherry, Kelsey, Kim, Erica, Matthew, Kari, Josh and Haley and great grandchildren Miles, Sebastian, Emily and Olivia.

The family would like to give a sincere thanks to the amazing staff at Cowichan District Hospital, Dr Philippson, as well as Cairnsmore Place and H.W. Wallace. You helped Dad and our family tremendously.

He will be missed by family and friends.
