In loving memory ~

Donald William Waddy passed away unexpectedly at home on October 29, 2024.

Born in Duncan, B.C, to Robert and Audrey Waddy, Don was a brother to Allan Waddy (Gloria) and Bobbi Wood, a loving husband to Lisa Waddy, a proud father to Megan and Jenna (Patrick), an Uncle to Tanya (Lawrence) and Dawn (Ralph), and a grandfather to Eli, Ezra and Olive.

Don's love for nature began in childhood. He spent his youth riding bikes, fishing, playing sports and actively participating in Scouts. After high school he attended BCIT, earning his Red Seal in woodworking and joinery. He then spent the remainder of his life perfecting the art of his trade.

Don met the love of his life, Lisa, in 1978 and they married in 1980. Together they built a beautiful life and family. Don and Lisa designed and constructed two family homes and a remarkable workshop that became a community hub and drop-in space for anyone in need.

Living life to the fullest, Don found beauty in all things. He was an eternal optimist, always willing to lend a hand and give back to his community. Don took pride in every role he held, whether as a family man, craftsman, coach, or his devotion to God. He loved the ocean, river, boating, camping, soccer, socializing, building and creating. He was especially proud to coach his daughter Jenna's soccer team the "Cowichan Chatter Champs" to a provincial title. He remained deeply engaged in the soccer community - coaching, refereeing, playing and running lines.

Everything Don did, he did with passion. He had a boundless heart and was beloved by many. Known for his deep compassion and infectious humor, he always brought smiles and laughter. His faith was central to his life, providing spiritual guidance to many. His beautiful woodwork can be seen throughout the Cowichan Valley, serving as a lasting testament to his skill and spirit.

Don will be remembered for his generous heart, his unique character and his unwavering spirit. He saw people for who they truly were and inspired others to follow their passion and soul purpose with gratitude and joy.
