In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart, that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Doris Ehrenberg, nee Elsing, who passed peacefully at home, ultimately from the effects of Alzheimers. Born in Wuppertal-Barmen, Germany, she played Grasshockey in her youth and apprenticed in Business/Merchandising. Mom met her future husband Rolf at 17, whom she married two years later in 1951. She moved to Berlin where he lived, and had two Sons there. The Berlin Wall, built in 1961, forced the Family to relocate, emigrating to Canada in 1962, settling in Duncan and later to Cowichan Bay. Mom and Dad were well known in the Valley, thru their delightful shop "Doris' Delicatessen", operated from 1963 thru 1988, after which they worked as sales reps for Delico Corp. till father's death in 1996.
Mom was an avid skier till she was 80, while also enjoying the great outdoors, hiking, canoeing, windsurfing, swimming and gardening, being renowned for her garden and Roses. She enthusiastically travelled to Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska, B.C., and Europe. Besides her talent playing the Piano, Mom also loved the Theatre Stage and Singing, having performed in The Merry Widow and South Pacific, and singing with the Polyphonic Singers and Concenti Singers as an Alto. Mom was a member of a Hiking group, The Probus Club, and a Lady's Summer Swimming group in Maple Bay. Her incredible cooking and decoration skills brought her much acclaim entertaining guests and she was also very talented in sketching, drawing, knitting and embroidering.
Mother is predeceased by her beloved parents Paul and Henni Elsing, husband Rolf, and eldest son Ralf. She is survived by her sister Veronika Mueller, son Hanno, daughter in law Erika, grandchildren Sven (Sonja) and Manuel, and great-grandchildren Maik, Jessica and Julius, all of whom she dearly loved.
Mom was a beautiful Lady, a wonderful Person, with an infectious smile and laugh, loved by everyone she met and knew. She was a joy to be with. I will miss her so much, love her always, never forget her, and cherish our shared adventures, life and memories.
