Edna Christina George born, Edna Christina Steinhauer in Younge Saskatchewan, February 8 , 1925. Father & mother Karl & Karolina Steinhauer emigrated from Russia 1912 settled in Saskatchewan and then relocated to Glenora, Vancouver Island, with their family in the 1930’s. Edna’s face was well known to many. Working tirelessly in the service industry; at various restaurants, hotels & bakeries for many years. Edna was also well known for her cooking and baking. Always quickly selling out of her delicious pies & goodies from her home and at local flea markets. Edna & her husband Abdo were regular members at the Seniors centre enjoying crib tournaments and bingo through out the Cowichan Valley. Edna & Abdo were faithful members of the Trinity Lutheran Church attending regular services until it was no longer possible; Edna still enjoyed regular visits & weekly sermons from Pastor Wille & Pastor Roggow. Edna was predeceased by her loving husband Abdo; survived by her children; daughter Sandra Richardson, sons Bryan MacRae, Ray MacRae & Rick MacRae. She will be sadly missed by her daughter in laws Rosemary, Kathy, Betty, son in law Chuck, grandchildren & great grandchildren. The family is very thankful to her great friends for their visits and the staff at Wedgewood for the help & love given to Edna when she needed it. We would also like to thank Dr. Jan Melherbe who not only was her Doctor but a caring good friend to Edna. There will be a service at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday Aug 26th 3:00 pm, followed by a tea in the church basement. The family hopes all who loved Edna can attend.
