In loving memory ~
Ernest Patrick Hills Carson (known to all as Pat) passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was 92.
A devoted husband, Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Carson (d. 1990). Pat is survived by his loving wife Camilla; his cherished daughters: Deb (Dan) Savory-Wright and Tracy (Dan) Carson-Checkley; proud grandchildren: Kyle (Monni) Savory, Jessica (Esko) Pirttikoski, Carlee Savory, and Emily Hydes; and great-grandchildren: Madison and Kennedy Savory and Scarlett Pirttikoski - who became his true joy. Pat will also be remembered by Camilla Carson's children: Colin (Lesley) Mantik and Cheryl (Travis) Mantik; and grandchildren: Carly and Breanne Mantik.
His family's undisputed patriarch, Pat lived life to the absolute fullest - nearly a century full of laughter, love, sass, and even a little mischief. He was the heart of his family; he was strong, kind, selfless, and generous beyond compare. Those attributes touched the lives of everyone who crossed his path.
A stoic man with humble beginnings, Pat never shied away from hard work. It was through sheer determination, grit and sweat equity that he built Pat Carson Bulldozing and became a titan in British Columbia's logging industry. Pat was a prominent businessman and a fair but firm employer. He was a mentor and most importantly, a friend to those who did business with him. Pat retired in 1989, his work left behind a long-lasting influence on Vancouver Island's logging industry.
Pat wholeheartedly believed in the importance of building and supporting his community - traits he worked hard to instill in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As a result of his tutelage, they will carry on his legacy of hard work and goodwill for many generations to come. As hard as he worked, Pat also played. He was an avid golfer and boater. He was the life of the party, boasting a sharp wit and an unparalleled sense of humour.
What truly brought him happiness was sharing a good meal with his family and friends. His presence will forever be missed, but his impact never forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Brentwood College School, 2735 Mt Baker Road, Mill Bay, BC. Reception to follow.
