In Loving Memory ~
The family of Evelyn Louise Barker (nee Fultz) is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Sunday December 22, 2024.
Evelyn was born June 10, 1933 in Stettler, AB, to Mabel and Everett Fultz. From there she moved with her Aunt Agnes and Uncle Frank Potorff to Duncan, BC.
In Duncan she met the love of her life Calvin Barker; high school sweethearts, then spouses in 1953. Mom and Dad remained devoted to each other until Dads death in 2014.
Mom was a bookkeeper (Dads business), school bus driver (one of the first women; she also competed in bus rodeos) and driver instructor. She still had her Class 1 endorsement on her driver's license which only expired this year...at 91.
Mom went with Dad to Tanzania through CUSO for just about a year. She loved working in the school with the children. Mom loved music and she loved to play the piano.
Mom was instrumental and a founding member of the Kamloops track and field club. She was a member up until a year ago working at meets. Community volunteerism was important to her.
A very talented seamstress since she was young, she was adventurous also: taking up paddle boarding in her 80s. Mom always had a smile - especially for family.
Thank you Dean and Joline for providing Mom a most loving, caring home at the farm...She loved the animals, the peace, and watching little Leon grow. She just loved being there.
Thanks to the hospice for their wonderful care in her last days. Lastly, thank you to Dr. Trudeau and Dr Pretorias for their kind compassionate care.
Mom is survived by her children Bob (Deb ), Glen (Robin), Barb (Marc), Janet (Art), Dean, (Joline), Tricia (Kevan), 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, sister in law Pat Slade, many nieces and nephews.
