Fern was born in Timmins, Ontario to Gilbert and Eileen Clifford. She spent her childhood in several small communities in Northwestern Ontario along with her 3 brothers, Terry, Hugh and John. In 1957 she met and married her life long partner, Guy Setterland.They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year! Together they raised 3 children in Kenora and BC. Eventually they retired on Vancouver Island. Fern was an amazing woman who knew how to live to the fullest and saw life as an adventure. She loved to travel and see the world and took her grandchildren on many memorable trips. She had a huge heart for animals and any dog or cat that ended up in her home was very lucky indeed. More than anything else Fern loved spending time with her family and especially our Sunday afternoon get togethers, where there was always lots of laughter and good food! She was predeceased by her daughter, Leanne. She is survived by her husband, Guy Setterland of Crofton, BC and her children, Jeff Setterland (Debbie) of Kenora, ON and daughter Claire Ellis (Jack) of Crofton, BC. She had 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A celebration of life was held at Fern’s church, Warmland Community Church in Crofton on Feb. 5th with a touching tribute by her son in law, Jack Ellis.
We take comfort in knowing we will be reunited in heaven.
She was loved and treasured and will be forever missed!
