It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother. Florence Emilia Lamontagne (LaRose) nee Fortin, passed away peacefully on November 8th, 2020.
Emilia was born to Anna and Joseph Fortin in Coderre, Saskatchewan November 29th, 1924. She was predeceased by both her son Lawrence LaRose and her first husband, Norman LaRose in 1979 and her second husband Morris Lamontagne in 2006.
She is survived by her sister Arlene Carter (Ken), her 4 sons Ron (Linda), Don (Judy), Brian (Debbie) and Rick (Kim) and daughter-in-law Theresa (Barry), her 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
When she was a young woman, she moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba, where she worked in the mines. Later the family moved to Victoria where she then got a job working as an electrician's helper and riveter on the ships during the war.
In 1944, she married Norman LaRose and in 1951 they bought a small farm in Cowichan Station, where they raised their 5 sons.
In 1983, she married Morris Lamontagne. The two built a motorhome bus and had many enjoyable times travelling together for many years to Arizona. She lived her life for her children and grandchildren.
She was a mother to everyone and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was very much loved. Our lives will always be more enriched and blessed to have had the pleasure of her in our lives.
God loaned her to us til it was time to take his angel home. Never forgotten, always loved and forever in our hearts. Now she's in God's arms.
Due to the restrictions of Covid-19, a service will be held in the future.
