In Loving Memory ~
Frances Campbell passed away peacefully at Cowichan District Hospital just after midnight on Tuesday, October 22nd, with husband of 57 years, William (Billy) at her side.
She is survived by husband Billy, daughter Gillian (Adam), son David (Rose), daughter Catherine (Trevor), grandchildren Liam, Sophie and Jack, brother Robert (Edith) and sister-in-law Helen (John) and families.
Frances was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland to Helen and Les Gattrell. She was attending Stranmillis University College in Belfast for teacher training when she met Billy. They married in 1967.
Frances and Billy made the difficult decision to leave Northern Ireland in 1976, during The Troubles. They immigrated to Canada with their three small children, settling in Saltair, BC.
Frances enjoyed a fulfilling teaching career with the Cowichan Valley School District. Teaching Kindergarten and Grade 1, she touched many young lives with her dedication, warmth, and passion for education.
Frances was devoted to her family - entirely selfless and endlessly giving. With friends and neighbours she was caring and kind.
She loved gardening in the sunshine and walking on Chesterman beach in Tofino. Her house was never without fresh flowers. She never went anywhere looking anything but impeccable.
She leaves us utterly bereft.
Sorely missed.
Forever loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. We would like to thank Dr. Manhas at Chemainus Medical Clinic and the oncology nurses at Cowichan District Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.
