November 10, 1937 - November 5, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

Passed away in Duncan on November 5th, 2024 at the age of 86.

Alan (Fred) is survived by his first wife, Margaret Jones, daughter, Angela Therrien (Ray), son Neil Haley (Alexandra), grandchildren Don Elliott (Kaela), Haley Elliott, Ashley Haley (Miles), Trystin Haley (Karlie), Sarah Haley (Jacob), Roman Hudson and Ayla Hudson and his nieces and nephews in England. He will also be greatly missed by Margaret's sister, Nancy Van Imschoot-Brown and his many family members and friends.

Born in Padstow, Cornwall, England on November 10, 1937, Alan served in the Royal Marines from 1956 to 1963 and was part of the peacekeeping forces in Cyprus.

In October 1964, Alan and Margaret emigrated to Canada with Angela (4 years) and Neil (2 years) and spent one very cold winter in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan before quickly moving the family to the warmth and beauty of the Cowichan Valley, where Alan remained for the rest of his life.

Alan worked as a mechanic and salesman at Duncan Garage in the early years, before becoming a real estate agent. Fred's (Alan) successful real estate career spanned Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, where he made many lifelong friends along the way.

In his later years his greatest joys were watching his grandchildren grow and take on their life with passion and dedication. His presence was larger than life and he will be greatly missed.

There is no service by request. A private family gathering will be held in the new year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #53 Cowichan.
