Gordon Herbert Bligh

August 26, 2021
It is with extreme sadness that we announce Dad passed away suddenly and unexpectedly August 26, 2021, at age 84. Born in Petersfield, Manitoba he was predeceased by Sylvia, his wife of 54 years.
Dad will be greatly missed by his loving daughters Sandy and Kathy. He will also be very missed by his sister Lil, brother Everett, brother-in-law Bob and the many neighbours and friends in Duncan and on the mainland with whom he remained in regular contact.
Never idle, Dad was a hard worker and could turn his hand to almost anything. He had a varied career, working in fishing and sawmill jobs, then many years with the Vancouver Police Department until moving to Duncan where he worked for the CVRD until his retirement.
He was a people person, kind and gentle, with a very witty sense of humour and always saw the good in things. He was also a man of keen intelligence, integrity and honesty, and was always happy to lend a hand to help others. He was liked and well respected by everyone he met.
After retiring, he never slowed down and continued to have many adventures with Mom as they travelled, took camping trips, enjoyed their home and took pride in tending to their beautiful yard and gardens. Dad always enjoyed the outdoors and after Mom passed, was able to continue to live at home independently, enjoying working around the property and sitting outside in the sun.
Dad taught us well, setting a good example of strong values, a life filled with fun and humour, and left us with many happy memories. He was a wonderful father and will be so missed.
