In loving memory ~
Hazel Behnsen, born in Kings Daughters hospital to William & Anna (nee Blair) Pipe of Menzies Rd. Hazel was a descendent of John Blair, Scottish Landscape architect. Part of his landscape design was the Old Stone Bridge in Beacon Hill Park in 1889.
The Behnsen family lived in Duncan, Youbou, Sandspit, Queen Charlotte Islands (where Bill was born), settling in Lake Cowichan in 1959.
Mom liked taking the kids to Ashburnum Beach and Skutz Falls, but her favorite place was Maple Bay beach to visit Aunty Jean (Blair) Grumbach.
Mom moved back to Menzies Rd for several years, enjoying country living and gardening. She attended Riverbottom Bible Camp Church, later visiting other churches in the valley. Her faith kept her strong.
Mom was somewhat of a conundrum with a unique thoughtfulness for remembering birth dates, anniversaries, etc. with cards & gifts. Her generosity touched many lives, including people several parties removed from her.
Survived by sister Irene Bergman & family, Children Joyce (Allen), Susan, Bill, Beth (Eddy) and Alaine. Cousins Sharon (Frank) Clough & Graham Peck, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Predeceased by brother Gerald 1989, father of their children Chris 2012, Son in Law Alex 2013, grandson Bryce 2019.
Mom, Hazel, Gramma, GG, will be missed with Love.
Graveside service to be held at Mountain View Cemetery on Friday, June 3rd at 2:00 pm.
