Howard Daniel Vaux

July 19, 2018

July 10, 1937 - July 19, 2018
Howard Vaux passed away comfortably with family by his side at Chemainus Health Care Centre at the age of 81. He is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 46 years and mother of all his children, Carole as well as his brother George and sister Evelyn.

Howard is survived by his five loving children: Rick (Cyndie), Shelley (Alan), Ron (Suzanne), Tammy (Ken), Gary (Debbie); eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother Jim (Sandra); sister Winnifred; Tim Francis who was like another son to Howie as well as several nieces and nephews.

Howie's passion was truck driving, whether it was a dump truck, chipper truck or logging truck as he had previously owned a contracting business. He loved to tinker with his Ford trucks. He was the biggest fan of country music and it was all he listened to, especially Gene Autry, Tammy Wynette and Dolly.

He grew up in the Cowichan Valley and was a long-time resident of Crofton where he and his wife Carole and owned and operated a grocery  store for 11 years and later a pizza shop. He was a hard working man and taught his children the importance of strong work ethics. He was a generous and funny man and always helped out those who were in need.

Howie was an amazing father and grandfather. He touched so many lives in so many ways and will be truly missed. "Happy trails to you, 'til we meet again."

Many thanks to Chemainus Health Care Centre nursing staff for all you have done making it a nice home for Howard during the past 7 years. A Celebration of Howard's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Crofton Senior Centre, 1507 Joan Avenue in Crofton, BC.
