Jack was born January 10, 1925 in Rimbey, Alberta. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy at age 17 in Victoria, BC and served in the North Atlantic until the war’s end. Jack and Sheila were married in Mill Bay BC in 1956. After moving around BC to various construction jobs they settled in Mill Bay in 1958 where he and Sheila raised their family and established Mill Bay Plumbing and Heating. After years of running their plumbing business Jack was employed by Jubilee Hospital in Victoria in 1968 and retired from there in 1987. Jack was active in the Mill Bay community. He was a member of the Mill Bay volunteer fire department, the Water Board, Mill Bay United Church and Sunday School, Cub Scouts and many community events throughout the years. After retirement he joined the Cobble Hill Legion and was proud to serve his community yet again. Jack and family enjoyed many years of camping, boating and fishing. After retirement he and his soul mate Sheila enjoyed two years of RV’ing around North America and travel to Africa and India. They also threw in a little white water rafting, sky-diving and hang-gliding. Jack had numerous friends and acquaintances and together they had many enjoyable times over the years. Jack will be missed by many people who were dear to him and Sheila. Jack was predeceased by his son Brent in 1993 and Sheila in 2010. He is survived by his daughters Jill (Glen) and Lisa (Fred). Jacks last months were spent at Cerwydden Care Centre. Our family wishes to thank the staff at Cerwydden for their amazing care and compassion. Dad so enjoyed being with all of you. Thank you.
