July 8, 1923 - July 14, 2020
Jack passed away peacefully on July 14, 2020 at the age of 97 years. He was predeceased by Winnie, his wife of 71 years and is survived by his daughters, Noreen (Rick) Saville, and Cheryl (Glen) Dumond. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad was born in Stratford, Ontario and served with the Canadian Army in Holland, Belgium and Germany during WWII. Upon returning to Canada, he travelled west to Duncan, and met Winnie, the love of his life in 1947. After building his house, and raising his kids, he spent many happy hours competing in sports, including bowling, curling, tennis and lawn bowling to name a few.
Dad was still playing billiards in the clubhouse 4 days before he died. "Gramps" as he was called by his grandchildren competed in annual euchre, horseshoe, washer and bocce championships with them until last summer. He left a wonderful legacy of annual family trips to Parksville over the past 67 years.
He had a great sense of humour and was such a joy to be around. Thanks Dad for all the wonderful memories.
Special thanks to Dr. Szabo for her excellent care over the years.
A private family service was held on July 31, 2020.
