My beautiful wife left me to be with her family in Heaven after a valiant struggle with her health.
Her main thoughts were always for her family, for whom she lived. She grew up in Fruitvale, British Columbia cared for by parents whom she adored. She was so proud to have been an operating room nurse first in the open heart unit at the Vancouver General Hospital and later, for many years, at St. Mary's Hospital in New Westminster where she made many friends. All the surgeons asked for Jan to help.
She loved her flower garden on the lake on Vancouver Island where we made our final home. She was at peace and happy here. We forged a loving and happy marriage together for many years full of caring and achievement, shared always with lots of critters from horses to dogs to cats.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Sandy and her beloved nieces Kim (Dana), Tracy (Nathan) and their children Nolan, Beckett, Addyson and Noah of whom she was so proud. She also leaves much loved step-sons James and Ross and grandson Ian: also step-daughter-in-law Tracy and grandchildren Fiona and Moira - all of whom she cared for deeply. Jan had a deep affection for her Auntie Dell for her great loyalty, love and help over the years.
We are so grateful for the empathetic care she got in the Oncology Unit at Cowichan District Hospital (Kim, Andrea, Brittney and Sharon) and from her physicians Doctors Terlien, Velasquez, Sahota, Pewarchuk, Masuda and Malherbe (who gave us two days of beauty at the end).
My dear Jan know that you will always be loved forever. The words you and I cherished so much were "I love you." Our souls were always together, and, one day, we'll be together again.
