We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Janet Klaassen of Shawnigan Lake, BC., on January 24, 2023, at the age of 81
Jan was born and lived her early years in England where she eventually trained as a nurse at Guy's Hospital, London. Outreach nursing took her to the Queen Charlotte Islands, where she met the love of her life, Victor Klaassen.
Jan and Vic were married in England in March of 1967. Jan emigrated to Canada where she and Vic started their family in Masset, BC. In the 1970's Jan and Vic moved to Shawnigan Lake, where they raised their children and enjoyed the many outdoor activities that the Island had to offer.
Jan worked as a public health nurse at the Margaret Moss Health Clinic in Duncan, BC.
Jan was predeceased by her siblings Margaret and Peter, and is lovingly remembered by her husband Vic, son, James (Susan), daughter Joanne (Steve); and grandchildren Matthew and Chelsea, Elizabeth, Rachael, Margaret and James, and her nieces and nephews in Canada and England.
Her family would like to thank the RCMP, Search and Rescue and the many local community members who helped in the search for Jan.
Jan will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
