January 6, 1925 - July 3, 2018
Jean is now reunited with the love of her life, Bob. Also predeceased by her brother John and daughter Patt and her best friends Jean Thomas and Marie Cloutier.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Betty (Marvin) Wood; son-in-law John McGee; grandchildren Stephanie, John, Kevin (Sarah) and Dana (Jeff); great-grandchildren Tevin, Kiara, and Kiyan; Howie nephews Bob (Roberta), Jim (Kathy) and Gordon, and niece Sheila (Butch). Jean's friends were like family and she would want to recognize all members of the Davis, Cloutier, Noble, and Lushington families, as well as Kathryn Galvin and Judy Robertson.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Jean remained a Calgarian at heart for her whole life, even though she lived in Duncan for 47 years. At a wedding in October, 1945, she met a dashing RCAF airman named Robert Howie. She was the bridesmaid, he was the best man, and it was love at first sight. They had a story book marriage. Jean had a very happy life, and was incredibly proud of her family.

The family would like to thank all those people who made it possible for Jean to live independently into her 94th year. First and foremost, Dr. Bryan Bass, whose wisdom and candor was respected and loved; her neighbors of past and present, especially Jennifer Logan; Jason Czettisch and the staff at Mann's Pharmacy; her "girls" at Waldon House, Teresa, Cathy & Sharon; the Seniors Monday Bridge Club; Janice McKee at Island Savings; Audrey VanderSchaaf at H&R Block; Gloria's Food Service; the Molly Maid girls; Delores Burnside, and her dear friends Camilla and Patrick Carson.

Also thank you to the staff of CDH 3rd North and Acacia Ty Mawr for their love and care of Jean in these last few weeks.

A memorial service for Jean will be held on Saturday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services, 375 Brae Road, Duncan, BC . Jean's favourite charity was the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, if you would like to donate something in her memory.
