It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our grandmother Joan Bulcock. She loved her family and friends dearly and all who knew her will miss her. Grandma was born in Edmonton, Alberta on August 6 1939, but lived most of her life in Duncan, on Vancouver Island. Grandma was predeceased by her eldest daughter Leah (Blair) and she is survived by Poppa Fred, brother Bill (Barb), children Chris (Jen) and Shauna (Dave), and her 5 grandchildren, Trent, Kaleigh, Shelby, Ethan and Wesley.

Graduating from UVIC for teaching led her into a long career around schools. She was passionate about encouraging learning no matter if she was teaching or in a more administrative role. Grandma married Poppa in Duncan in 1960, later moving to Port Hardy for 7 years before returning to Duncan in 1970.

Grandma was a social butterfly with many friends and hobbies. She enjoyed her walking group, gardening, quilting group, volunteering at mother’s morning out, and spending time with Poppa and all her grandchildren. She especially cherished summer’s spent with her family and friends in Honeymoon Bay, on Lake Cowichan.

A Memorial Service for Grandma will be held at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre, 5285 Polkey Road, Duncan, BC on Friday March 24rd at 2:00pm.

Memorial donations may be made in Grandma’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

You will forever be in our hearts Grandma, you gave us all so many wonderful memories.
