Jack grew up in Michel and spent his time hunting and fishing. After leaving Michel he went to Normal School and started his teaching career in Yahk, BC. He continued his education at UBC, earning a Bachelor of Science and worked summers in the coal mine in Michel to earn money for university.
He went on to teach mathematics at schools in Terrace, Sparwood, and Ladysmith, finishing his 35 year career at Cowichan High School in Duncan.
Jack loved bike riding, golfing (he was Club Champion at Mt. Brenton, Chemainus, in 1973), and gardening. He was especially proud of his tomatoes.
Survived by his wife Evelyn of 62 years; four children - Cindy (Mark), granddaughter Codie; Pamela (Scott), grandsons Ethan and Cole; Tracy (Paul), grandchildren Sarah, Samantha, and Zachary; Andrew (Rachael), grandchildren Jake and Casey.
He was much loved and will be deeply missed by his family.
