The Rev. Dr. Joy Harcourt Vernon, R.N., S.Th., B.A., B.S.W., M.S.W., M.Div., D.Min., died at Embassy Hall, Shannex, Quispamsis, N.B. on August 19, 2017. Born to Alice Margaret (Cayley) and Arthur Arundel Harcourt Vernon on August 5, 1934 in Toronto, Ont., Joy was predeceased by her Godmother Ray D'Arcy Osler (Cayley) in 2004; her brothers: Granville Patrick Harcourt Vernon in 2005 , and Hugh Harcourt Vernon in 2003. She is survived by her only sister, Rosemary Moorhead (late John) of Sussex NB. and her brother John Anthony Harcourt Vernon( Sue Elaine) of Barrie, Ont.; sisters-in-law: Debby and Shirley, as well as by many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.Joy was a member of the Anglican Network in Canada (Christ the King) and the Nurses Christian Fellowship. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Canon Ed Coleman at St. Mark's Anglican Church, Sussex Corner, N.B. on August 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. with many from all walks of life attending a joyous service. In keeping with Joy's nautical adventures, and her preference, her ashes will be committed to the deep at a later date.
