June Roberta Minckler - It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of June Minckler, at the age of 83, with family at her side.

She is survived by daughters Judi (Chris Jackson), Lynda (Smith), and Vicky (Ted Moore); her sister, Alma Goodman; her grandchildren Sonja Jackson (Job Van Dort), Mark Jackson (Froukje), Tony Smith (Shelly), Greg Smith (Tia), Shannon Moore (Robert Mason-Brown), Kevin Moore (Elizabeth); and great grandchildren Luca, Avi, Charlie, Gus, Ethan, Jonas, Mariah, Alexis, Emma, Cameron, Sophia and Molly.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Minckler; her parents, Robert and Jessie Jenkinson; siblings Jack Jenkinson, Shirley Arnold, Jean Lowrey, and son-in-law George Smith.

She was born in Duncan and lived here all her life. She worked as a telephone operator for a brief period, and owned and operated the M&W Drive-In at Lake Cowichan, but for the most part was devoted to her family and worked at home to raise her three daughters, with her husband George.

She was an avid gardener and a great cook who enjoyed preserving the vegetables and fruits from her own garden. She spent much time tending to her flowers and just being outdoors in the fresh air where she could watch all the birds and critters who loved her back yard. She was creative and artistic and enjoyed painting. She loved to read and was rarely without a book in her hands.

June was small in stature, but big in influence, upon all who knew her. She had a kind and gentle nature and was dearly loved, and will be remembered fondly by her family and friends. In keeping with June's wishes, there will be no memorial service.
