It is with heavy broken hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Kennely, beloved husband of 52 years to June, the love of his life. He was a loving, proud father and grandfather and will be forever missed by his daughters: Tammy (Travis) and Treena; grandson Devan, great grandson Kaiden and his son-in-law and friend Travis. Kennely was predeceased by his parents Tom and Rose Johnston and sister Rebecca (Becky) Staffanson of Chemainus. Kennely was a kind, generous, and confident man with a great sense of humour.
He always had fun stories to share about his life and jokes to tell. He was an avid gardener and couldn't wait for spring to start anew and enjoyed building bird houses. He was an extremely hard worker, whether at his trade as a Heavy Duty Mechanic of 43 years or any job needing to be done.
He had high integrity and was also very conscientious in all that he did. Kennely was always keen to learn new things and challenge himself. Through his life he learned to scuba dive, played the bagpipes, designed and built wood furniture, and received his pilot license for small aircraft. A few years prior to retirement Kennely decided to become an ocean kayaker. This hobby allowed him to spend time in nature where he truly loved to be; whether alone or with his many kayaking comrades on day trips or wilderness camping trips.
He was also a proud member of the BC Marine Trails as it was important to him to help in the preservation of nature for future generations. He had the most incredible zest for life. We lost a good man. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Sands Funeral Chapel - Duncan, 187 Trunk Road.
