August 29, 1924 - February 27, 2020
It is with a saddened heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma and Aunty, Lillian (Lil) Mullins on February 27, 2020.
Lillian Annie was born on August 29, 1924 to George and Lillian Tickell in Vancouver B.C. and at an early age she became active in the community, collecting donations at Christmas, girl guide leader and fitness instructor.
During WW2 she was a messenger (runner) for the Canadian Armed Forces. At age 21 she became a "high rigging acrobat" for a traveling carnival, performing 100 feet in the air without a net. After many years traveling with the carnival she returned home and began a second career, a wrestler. Known as "Ginger O'Hara"(because of her auburn hair). She and her partner were only a handful of female wrestlers at the time.
In 1951 she met Pat Mullins and they were wed on August 8th 1953. Mom was always active in the community, president of the Red Cross for many, many years, school events volunteer, she was instrumental in getting the Somenose School underpass put in so the kids didn't have to cross the highway. Mom, already in her 70's, joined the Cowichan Therapeutic Riding Association (CTRA) were she was a side walker with the kids on horseback.
Always thinking of others and how she could better their lives, was how she lived her life, and that was the legacy she wanted to pass down.
Predeceased by husband Patrick, her parents, and siblings: Ev, Bill, Aileen, Fred, Phyllis, Roy and Don. She is survived by her children: Shawn (Wynette), Gwen (Clyde) and Kelly, and special niece Diane, Grandchildren: Ami & Sunshine, Dan, Jen, Craig, Robert & Megan, David & Kyle, 11 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. She Loved you all!
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Cerwydden Care. Your professionalism, kindness, and love, made her stay a lot easier.
Your smile and laughter are always in our memories and your love will forever be in our hearts.
