In Loving Memory ~
Lois, aged 89, passed away on June 22, 2024. Lois was born in Walnut Creek, California, on March 3, 1935, to Ced and Ethel Hemstalk. She was the oldest of six siblings (Tommy, Jean, John, Ralph & Ken) and was predeceased by her younger brother Tommy.
At the age of 6, Ced and Ethel moved the family to Duncan, where Lois spent her early years before relocating to Victoria at 16 to begin her career at a bank.
Later returning to Duncan, she met her first husband, Cecil Phillips, with whom she had four children: Barry, Rick, Carole, and Terri.
Lois married again to her second husband, Jack James, and welcomed her youngest son, Stanley. Lois cherished her roles as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her ever-expanding family.
Among Lois' fondest memories were the adventures she and Jack shared in their motorhome, often journeying south, and returning with the motorhome full of goodies. They were devoted members of the Moose Lodge, where they later served as caretakers until Jack's passing.
Lois also loved to spend time outside in her garden and with her dog, Pebbles.
Thank you to the amazing staff at Cairnsmore Place for all your care over the years, and a special thank you to "Pud" for continually showing up and helping care for Lois.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
