Jul 24, 1925 - Nov 6, 2017
Our dear Maisie left us on November 6, 2017.  Beloved sister, cousin, aunt and friend, Maisie faced the last few months of her life with courage and grace, as she suffered the final stages of pancreatic cancer.

Maisie was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Kate, her brother John, sisters Eunice and Miriam, and her very dear friend Ian Grant.

She will be greatly missed by her sister Gladys and family, in New Zealand, and by cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends in England and Canada.

Born and raised in Birmingham, U.K., Maisie grew up in a close and caring family, of whom she often spoke with great love.  Throughout her life in Canada, she maintained strong relationships with her family, many of whom travelled here to visit.

Maisie worked as a nurse for many years in Canada, mainly in Alberta and B.C., on Vancouver Island; she was proud of her nursing career.  It was here in the Cowichan Valley that she met Ian Grant, with whom she shared many happy times.  It was here also, over 40 years ago, that Maisie and Laura Ferreira met, at Brentwood College, and formed a strong friendship, enjoyed over many years.

Maisie was remarkable for her independent spirit, sense of humour and her gift for friendship.  She was an avid reader, correspondent, gardener, walker and a great friend to many.

Many thanks to VIHA home support team, Chemainus Health Care Centre, Dr. Iturra and Dr. Masuda.

A tea will be held to share memories of Maisie at Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay, on Dec 5, from 2-4 pm.

Donations may be made to Doctors without Borders in Maisie's memory.
