March 26, 1947 - April 3, 2025

In loving memory ~

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Margaret Davis (Quinlan), who left this world on April 3rd, after a long battle with cancer. Marg was pre-deceased by her parents Elizabeth and Peter Quinlan, her baby brother John, and her granddaughter Betty. She is survived by Don, her husband of 43 years, as well as her children Simon (Carrie) and Sarah (Kevin), and grandchildren Maggie and Caylx. She will be deeply missed by her siblings Judith, Rosemary, Richard, Jo and Gina and their families, along with her ex-husband and friend Rob Edwards, many relatives in the UK, and hundreds of friends all over the world.

Marg was born on March 26, 1947 in Manchester, England, and came to Canada with her family in 1956. She was the eldest child in the family and became a role model of kindness, integrity, humour, and positivity. Marg imbued every challenge she took on with these values, touching peoples' lives and striving to make things better wherever she went. She became a teacher and taught in Alberta and BC, before she settled in the Cowichan district in 1980, where she and Don met. Marg was passionate about her career and in just one of her many projects, she spent a year teaching in Japan. Upon her return she created a successful international student program for the school district and became a leader and mentor in this field around the province.

Marg lived a full and active life enjoying many hobbies and spending time with her cherished friends. Whatever else Marg was doing in her life, she always made time to support causes that were important to her. Following her cancer diagnosis, she spent many years volunteering for the Canadian Cancer Society. Marg was a dedicated and loving mother and wife, and in her later years she delighted in being a Nana.

In keeping with the spirit of giving that Margaret embodied throughout her life, we invite contributions to a cancer charity or hospice of your choice in lieu of flowers.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Szabo for her compassionate care and support throughout Marg's illness. We would also like to thank the home care nurses who helped make Marg more comfortable at home, and the staff at Cowichan Hospice House for the wonderful care she received in her final days.

A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced at a future date.
